Massachusetts Institute of Technology Application Requirements

General requirements that are asked when applying to the Massachusetts Insitute of Technology Graduate School include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent earned from a technical school, university, or college with acceptable standing
  • For MA applications, at least one academic year of study, 2 years for the engineer’s degree,
  • Academic study of three years or more for PhD applicants
  • Official GRE scores
  • Official IELTS scores
  • TOEFL with 577 as minimum score
  • Other requirements may vary in the departments or programs but applicants are generally expected to possess knowledge and experience in the physical sciences and mathematics
